Travis Sends More Help Haiti's Way |

02/01/2010 - Travis Air Force Base, California - Nineteen Airmen deployed Jan. 23 from Travis as part of the Air Force's ongoing humanitarian relief response to Haiti.
The members of the base's 615th Contingency Response Wing were headed not to the Caribbean nation hit Jan. 12 with a 7.0 earthquake, but to San Isidro Air Base in the neighboring Dominican Republic.

AMC Brings Urban Search and Rescue Team to Haiti |
2nd Lt. Holly Hess 60th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs
1/14/2010 - A C-17 Globemaster III from Travis Air Force Base, Calif., arrived in Haiti Thursday, with urban search and rescue teams for humanitarian relief efforts.
On their way to Haiti, the aircrew stopped at March Air Reserve Base, Calif., to pick up California Task Force 2.
The task force, or CA-TF2, works with the United States Agency for International Development, and specializes in large-scale disaster search and rescue missions.

Plans for Renewable Energy Project Cancelled |

1/5/2010 - Travis has cancelled plans to proceed further at this time to solicit ideas for a renewable solar energy project that would have been developed at the 205-acre Cypress Lakes Golf Course. Col. James Vechery, 60th Air Mobility Wing commander, announced the decision Dec. 22 after a careful review of the business case supporting the project. |

Travis' First Mass Launch A Success |

1/5/2010 - The 60th and 349th Air Mobility Wings at Travis Air Force Base, Calif., conducted the base's first mass launch of nine aircraft Dec. 21.
Base officials said the Total Force launch effort was an opportunity for operations, maintenance and support personnel to train together on a larger scale than normal.
Travis routinely launches three-ship KC-10A Extender formations, but this was the first time the base launched three Major Weapon Systems in rapid succession.
